"A Tribute to VEER."

The Veer

Veer is an initiative which encourages every Indian citizen to play the role of an enabler and help people with disability unleash their true potential. After the success of the first season, Veer season 2 will adapt an emotional route of showcasing VEERs’ inspiring stories and current challenges faced by them.

Veer season 2 aims to attain three broad objectives:

  • Raise funds to provide training to 2000 disabled people in order to make them employable.
  • To sensitize the nation at large about the true potential of people with disabilities.
  • To advocate various policy decisions aimed at bettering the life of people with disabilities.

All it takes is Rs. 10000 to provide skill based training to one person with disability and the initiative aims at raising Rs. 2 Crs in order to train 2000 people with disabilities.

Celeb’s Quotes

Together with Thums Up, Being Human has launched Veer, a campaign that recognizes the potential of differently abled individuals and provides them with a level playing field. We are thankful to Network 18 and AIF for their support.

I grew up in a school where we were taught to treat everyone equally, so in my eyes they are not disabled. I, Deepika Padukone, appeal all of you to come forward and donate generously to this cause.

Deepika Padukone

We have to help those people who are disabled and do something for them. If we can help them in any way,I think it is a great initiative. Please come forward and donate generously because those people need your help.

Virender Sehwag

Our society in particular is very impatient and we are not sensitive towards the speacially abled. It'll be really nice if you out of your huge funds just donate seven thousand five hundred, out of that money this particular person will be skilled and make a living for a lifetime.

Shefali Talwar

Model

One of the greatest challenges that a specially abled face is the lack of employment opportunities. Donate generously, just seven thousand five hundred rupees will give one specially abled person an opportunity to be employed. Surely we can do this!

Shabana Azmi

Actor

Anything which is backed by television, endorsed by celebrities or what becomes fashionable can also go about in a circular way and create a kind of an awareness. The money we donate seven thousand five hundred rupees goes into creating employment for one handicapped person,it can change his life.

Rina Dhaka

Fashion Designer

We should become a more inclusive society and like I said you should get them onto the mainstream. Please come forward and donate seventy five hundred rupees to the CNN-IBN cause for the specially abled, because by doing so you will make one specially abled person employable.

Pratibha Prahlad

For me, they are a great source of inspiration. For me, I also find that it is our duty as a society to give them the same opportunities. I'd like to request you to come forward and give specially aided people a better opportunity in life. With seventy five hundred rupees alone you can create a life of another human being. Please come out and donate generously.

Leander Paes

Indian Tennis Legend

Our country has a very large number of differently abled people, They are very capable but they often need help of one kind or the other. I would therefore appeal to each one of you to come up and be generous and help the people in a way that they can help themselves. Open your purse strings, open your heart and be generous.

We need to be more sensitive, otherwise we would have had much better infrastructure for physically handicapped people and physically handicapped children as well. Please come forward and donate generously, it's a very good cause and I hope that by donating seven thousand five hundred rupees, you are making one special person employable.

Gautam Gambhir

Indian Cricketer

We should be far more tolerant, far more receptive to these people, because they are special. Please all of you come forward and give as much as you can.

To promote a cause such as ours, we need to apply the Golden Triangle Theory, which is about the Civil society, Business and Government. I believe, if the three bodies put their heads and minds together, they can come out with excellent solutions. For me, as a corporate and the brand owner of Thums Up which is all about realizing and unleashing the inner strength, this is very important. (Everyone has the inner strength, only realization is required).

Deepak Jolly

Thums up

Irrespective of whether you are specially-abled or abled, economic independence is a critical thing for everyone. We need to empower the persons with disability from being a liability to an asset. At the American Indian Foundation, we have been working on the whole livelihood space for the last eight years to make such people financially independent.
